1.) What are some of the highlights and successful moments in the 2015 show season for you?
Coming together with Edge Of Glory CA to be named U.S. Reserve National Champion HA/AA Hunter Pleasure Maturity was a major highlight of 2015. She was only four years old, and it was our first year as a team. The show season was peppered with successful moments as we learned about each other and grew as horse and rider throughout our lessons and in the show ring. The process of becoming a team with your horse is by far my favorite aspect of showing. Other highlights include winning two Canadian National Championships with my horse Love Sick, and being able to take double victory passes at the Region 10 Championship show with my best friend Rachel, and her wonderful mare Maybelline CA.
2.) Who has been your biggest influence in the Arabian breed in getting you to where you are today?
My father, Peter Conway. We started this thing together, making the hour drive back and forth for lessons starting when I was 6 years old. The drive has gotten a lot shorter, but 23 years later and that’s still where you’ll find us every Saturday.
3.) If someone were to describe you, what would they say about you?
I would hope they would describe me as a dedicated and passionate horseman and mother. They would most likely add in that I’m a dorky introvert who tends to over think.
4.) Name one show ring quirk you have:
I would say my main quirk starts before I go in the ring. I will have my mental notes, sayings, Tom-isms on riding that I repeat to myself, to help me visualize my ride and prepare for the class. They are always changing, and usually come from my previous lesson or last “Ah ha!” moment.
