Describe your involvement in the Arabian horse breed as a volunteer, and what your accomplishments are:
My life totally revolves around the Arabian horse and the people involved in this great breed.
I volunteer as:
MN Arabian Horse Association – President
MN Arabian Horse Breeders – Board of Directors
Region 10 Championship Horse Show – Show Committee
MAHA Fall Classic – Manager and MAHA Spring Fling – Co-Manager
AHA – ESRE (Equine Stress Research & Education) Committee Chair
APAHA Membership Chair, Treasurer and Co-chair of the Horseman’s Awards Dinner.
APAHA and MN AHA have grown to be the largest and second largest clubs within AHA and thru innovative membership drives ideas and working on membership fulfillment programs both these clubs are doing great.
ESRE is a Committee that has done much to focus and change several things within the Arabians breed, including the Arabian Scoring System for Halter and the Shoeing Regulations using dimension vs. weight.
I am involved in providing educational/informational articles to the Arabian publications.
In addition to this, I/we (with my husband Peter) breed, foal, raise, train, show and market our Arabian and Half-Arabians very successfully! It is a lifetime passion and I am lucky to be involved in this great breed with so many terrific people!
What are some of the highlights and successful moments involving the Arabian horse for you in 2015?
I had a couple really cool moments in 2015:
1.) I got my first EVER National Championship in the English Pleasure division!
2.) This was my 3rd year of riding Reiners, and I did NOT go off pattern at Nationals!!! lol.. 🙂
3.) Seeing several of the horses that we bred and foaled…as in “totally had to be pulled out of their mom”, who went National Champion this year. That is really cool!!
If someone were to describe you, what would they say about you?
I would hope they would say that I am honest, fun, passionate about everything I am involved in, hard-working and determined to make life better for everybody around me, with a vision for the future.
