1.) What are some of the highlights and successful moments in the 2015 show season for you?
2015 was an amazing year for Deven and I in the Show Hack division and Park. It started at Scottsdale where we won the Amateur Show Hack along with the Amateur Park. Then we made our way to Canadian Nationals where we won the Amateur Show Hack, were Top Ten in the Open and we were Reserve in the Park. Finally at US Nationals we won the Amateur Show Hack completing the Triple Crown. This was incredibly exciting and amazing that I was also able to do this in 2012 with Prince LOA.
2.) Who has been your biggest influence in the Arabian breed in getting you to where you are today?
For the Show Hack my influence has been two fold. First Kimberly VerHage introduced me to this amazing class. She taught me the intricacies of every gate. Then Jim Lowe worked with me the last few years to refine each movement and how to perfect the extended and collected gates.
3.) If someone were to describe you, what would they say about you?
They would say that I am strong competitor and someone who loves their horses. If something happens in the arena I am the first to find out what I did wrong, I never blame my horse.
4.) Name one show ring quirk you have:
When it comes to my show hack horses, I talk to them. I do not say things like easy…we have an actual conversation. For example “Deven we are now doing a collected walk, so slower, slower, collect, round your back, now step, step”. I do this for every gate….I know I am weird…lol.
