1.) Describe your involvement in the Arabian horse breed as a volunteer, and what your accomplishments are:
R O Lervick Arabians is located in Stanwood, north of Seattle in the Pacific Northwest and is very involved in the Arabian clubs in that area. They strongly support Regions 4 and 5, the Arabian Horse Association in Washington State, and especially the local Daffodil Club and show. They are particularly involved in their local youth groups and local charities. Due in part to their proximity to Canada they also have close ties with many Canadian breeders and horsemen, having created friendships and relationships … some that go back decades.
“It took a family to make R O Lervick Arabians,” says Roger Lervick. “We are very proud of our horses, and equally proud of our exceptional staff, trainer Dennis Wigren, Tague Johnson, our breeding manager and Julie Jones, who manages our office. We could not have achieved any of our goals without these top professionals and their great staff. Linda and I so appreciate their hard work and they mean all so much to us, honestly, they are like our children.”
2.) What are some of the highlights and successful moments involving the Arabian horse for you in 2015?
The R O Lervick Arabians had another stellar year in 2015. Of those competing, 21 Arabians and Half-Arabians took top honors at the national shows, bringing home 70 Top Ten awards and nine national championships and reserves. The Lervick Arabian horses are noted for their diversity and these won in Halter, Country and English Pleasure, Driving, Hunter Pleasure, Trail, Show Hack, Side Saddle, Costume, Dressage, Sport Horse and Walk/Trot. Brightest moments included Delsan Arabians, ROL Divine Style winning the English Pleasure Championship at the Canadian Nationals. In all there were seven brand new National Champions bred by R O Lervick Arabians at this year’s Canadian National show! There were many special moments. It was also thrilling to watch RH Triana, a daughter of the Lervick-bred stallion, ROL Intencyty, win the 2015 U.S. National Champion Senior Halter Mare title. To watch these horses breed on makes us very proud. RH Triana was bred by Robin Hood Farms and is owned by Triana Holding LLC.
It takes a while to become an Arabian horse breeder and Roger and Linda Lervick have been breeding Arabian horses for 43 years. They are the breeders of 32 national champion horses, 111 national winners and 225 Half-Arabian and Purebred Arabian champions.
3.) If someone were to describe you, what would they say about you?
Most R O Lervick-bred horses have a “classic” Arabian horse life, with successful Halter wins as youngsters and long and fruitful careers in the show ring as open, amateur and junior-to-ride horses. For almost four decades Lervick’s have successfully produced well conformed horses that are kind, trainable and sound throughout their long and busy lives. That in itself is a contribution to the betterment of the Arabian Breed.
“It’s been a lifelong goal of ours to be remembered as breeders of fine Arabian horses,” says Roger. “After we’re gone I hope future horsemen will see an ROL horse in a pedigree and say ‘… the Lervicks bred some very good horses and made a real contribution to the Arabian Breed.’”
