1.) What are some of the highlights and successful moments in the 2015 show season for you?
My favorite show highlights for 2015 are several. Winning Scottsdale and Youth Nationals with my Half Arabian hunter, Big Time DDA was unforgettable. Also winning both Scottsdale and Youth Nationals with Mama Mia LOA, in Show Hack and English side saddle was fantastic! Of Course my long time winner The Big Dance as Reserve Champion in Native Costume at both Scottsdale and Youth Nationals was pretty cool too.
Another special highlight of 2015 was winning the Scottsdale Signature Stallion 2 yr old Halter Championship. That moment was extremely special to both myself and our farm.
2.) Who has been your biggest influence in the Arabian breed in getting you to where you are today?
There have been several special people influential in helping me get to the show level I am today.
A big thank you to my grandparents, who bought me a very special pony who won every award there was in Highland Rider history.
Also another thank you to my parents who bought me my first Arabian horse and encouraged me to always give my all, every time I ride.
The person that I owe the most gratitude is to my long time trainer Cynthia Burkman, who has always believed in me and my abilities as a
rider. She has the magic touch and experience to encourage me even in the hardest moments to ride to win. I love her very much.
3.) If someone were to describe you, what would they say about you?
I would like to believe that people would say that Sarah is a very kind and caring person who is absolutely and totally passionate about my horses. I would like to know that people would also say that I am a very strong, determined and fair competitor in for the long haul.
4.) Name one show ring quirk you have:
One quirky ritual that I do at horse shows is, as I get ready to show my horses, I listen to music as a way to connect with them.
Each one of my show horses has a special song that I play before we ride and compete together.
